What wrong have I committed in saying that? And I have not asked you to give me the permission to stand with Raila or President Kenyatta,” Matiang’i said

Matiang’i said his decision to support Raila was informed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s confidence in the ODM leader.

The CS also said he is under the obligation of the law to enforce all presidential decrees in a salvo to his critics.

“President Kenyatta is my boss and it is him who gave me this job to do. If he gives me a direction to take, it is logical as his Minister for Security to align with his directive,” the CS said.

Mating’i scoffed at those people who have been questioning his close contact with Raila especially on various occasions in the recent past.

“We have agreed with our senior that Prime Minister Raila is the person who will lead us and we have also agreed that this time, we, the people of Nyanza will stand together as one,” Matiang’i said.

During the same occasion in which Matiang’i was crowned a Luo elder, He told off Deputy President William Ruto and his associates for assuming credits for projects they never accomplished nor delivered.

Matiang’i said there can never be two centres of power and asserted that all government projects are delivered by the Head of State.

He also said anyone claiming credit for major development of infrastructure is nothing but a hypocritical, political conman.

“There can never be two centres of power and anyone else taking credit for Government projects or claiming to have influenced major infrastructure development is a hypocrite and engaging in political conmanship,” the CS said.

On matters handshake, the CS said he has his weight behind the monumental handshake between Uhuru and Raila because it has brought positive change in the lives of Kenyans.

“I personally support the handshake both as a presidential undertaking and because of its evident benefits to the country and I have no apologies to make to anyone,” said Matiang’i.

He also differed with the people criticizing and claiming that the handshake has derailed the delivery of government projects.

Matiang’i emphasized that he owed nobody an apology for supporting the handshake because of it’s clear benefits to the nation.
