The National Police Service has established counselling desks for troubled police officers in Eldoret.
All the nine police stations within Eldoret each have a desk established.
This is to assist police officers experiencing stress-related issues.
The move comes a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta called for concerted efforts to contain the issue of mental health officers among police officers.
Uhuru was speaking during the passing out ceremony of 2,502 General Service Unit (GSU) officers in Nairobi.

Uasin Gishu Deputy County Commander Zacchaeus Ngeno said the programme was initiated from the NPS headquarters to address the ballooning cases of police fatalities and incidents involving police officers.

Ngeno said a chaplain has been assigned to the stations for spiritual intervention during counselling sessions.
He was speaking at Baharini Police Station on Monday where he also said the officers will be provided with bibles to read and seek divine intervention as they manage stress.
The number of incidents involving police officers taking their own lives or those of others has lately increased.
