Form four students from Maranda High have been sent home indefinitely over a botched dormitory arson.

According to sources, tension has been growing in the school since Monday and the school administration has been trying to quell the tension.

Unknown students reportedly left some graffiti on the wall with threatening messages warning about burning down the school

The form four students were set to sit for their mock examinations but they refused to and instead started issuing the threats.

The school administration reached the decision to send the form four students home after a failed attempt to burn a makeshift dormitory on Tuesday evening at around 5:45 pm when the students were having their supper.

Unconfirmed reports say CCTV cameras captured a student fleeing from the scene after setting the makeshift dormitory ablaze.

Property worth thousands of shillings, including blankets and mattresses, was burnt in the incident before the fire was extinguished.

Another fire incident at the school took place last month when a group of students set a dormitory that could accommodate 200 students ablaze.

The school administration did not disclose the identity of the student to the police, nor have they issued any statement regarding the incident.

Students who were suspected of committing the offence were arrested and arraigned in court. However, on Monday, the court ordered their release.

The school was closed on November 8, 2021, and the attempted arson incident happened just a few days after the students resumed their learning.
