Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga comes out as President Uhuru's most preferred successor ahead of the August 2022 general election.

According to a November 7 - 13, 2021 survey conducted by the Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA), many Kenyans believed that Kenyatta prefers Raila to Ruto to lead the country after the end of his term in the office.

"More than five times as many Kenyans assume that Uhuru prefers Raila rather than Ruto as his successor, 48 per cent against 9 per cent. read the report.

TIFA noted that one-third of Kenyans are uncertain as to who Uhuru would like to be Kenya’s next president at a total standing of 33 per cent.

According to the report, 5 per cent of respondents said president Kenyatta is yet to make his decision.

"Since mid-last year, the proportion of Kenyans who believe that Raila is Uhuru’s preferred successor has continued to increase, even if still fewer than half of them hold this view," the report said.

More residents of Raila's home believed that Uhuru prefers Odinga to be his successor more than any other person, amounting to 58 per cent.

The report comes as the race for the presidential seat gets intesnified.

Today, Raila Odinga will make various tours in Trans Nzoia County where he's expected to popularize his Azimio la Umoja campaigns.
