Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has officially launched his bid for Nairobi's gubernatorial seat.

Tim was nominated as Nairobi councillor in the year 2007, the position he held until 2013 when he was elected as Westlands MP and now serving his second term.

He now joins a growing list of politicians, including Margaret Wanjiru and senator Johnson Sakaja who have already declared their interest in the position.

Tim intends to run for the position on an ODM ticket.

Speaking at the event, the MP said Modern infrastructure and a modern solid waste management system is at the top of the agenda.

The MP said he believes he has done all he had wanted to do in Westlands—empowered women and the youth, refurbished and equipped schools, invested in education, and worked with the police to improve security.

Wanyonyi succeeded Mwaura as the Kenya Disability Parliamentary Association chairman.

He has twice been recognized as the best performing MP and was recently voted as the best legislator in Nairobi.
