Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has called upon the head of state to arrest the leaders he termed as thieves and crooks in the government.

Gachagua pointed out that if the president is aware of any presidential candidate who is a thief, he should take immediate action before the elections.

"Maybe the President has news that there is a thief who wants to contest in the general elections. He should make plans for the person to be arrested, taken to court, and sent to jail so that he won't be in the race," Gachagua said.

Gachagua's remarks come barely hours after Garissa town MP Aden Duale said President Kenyatta's sentiments insulted Jubilee supporters who voted for him.

"You are telling us the eight million Jubilee supporters in your own reading are full of con men, crooks and thieves. That is an insult to the Jubilee family and your supporters," Duale said.
