This comes a few days after the Gatundu South Member of Parliament stated the region must be assured of a tangible share of the government before they commit to any presidential hopeful.
The 8 cabinet ministry positions in demand represent 40 per cent of the 22 ministries available as per the constitution.
Here are the cabinet ministry positions the poster demanded and reasons for each demand:
- MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE - to implement guarantee minimum returns
- MINISTRY OF TRADE, INDUSTRIALISATION & ENTERPRISE - to support SMEs, Agro-processing and manufacturing as a way to create jobs for the millions of youth the region is losing to alcoholism and drug abuse
- MINISTRY OF WATER - to supply water to over 5 million homes with no access to clean water and boost agriculture through irrigation
- MINISTRY OF HEALTH - to support regional hospitals like Kiambu, Gatundu, Thika, Muranga, Nyeri PGH, Embu PGH, Nakuru PGG, Meru, Kerugoya, Othaya, Chogoria and JM Kariuki which are a burden to our counties but receive patients from all over the country
- EDUCATION - to reclaim the lost glory for education in the region and support the many national schools in the region like Mangu, alliance, Kagumo and many others
- TRANSPORT, PUBLIC WORKS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND HOUSING - to invest in an infrastructure system that will assist the farmers in getting their produce to the market
- INTERIOR & COORDINATION OF NATIONAL GOVERNMENT - to ensure the safety and security of our people and our property and uphold our pledge that our people shall never be killed or displaced anywhere in the republic of Kenya- never, never, never again
- THE NATIONAL TREASURY - to adequately fund the above 7 programmes and ensure double-digit growth of the economy for job creation and prosperity.
In a rejoinder, the poster makes an ultimatum that reads ‘wekelea 40%…halafu tongue’ which translates to ‘let’s talk after you offer 40%’
It is yet to be clear if the sentiments are shared among the leaders of the Mount Kenya Forum since only one leader from the region has come out to dispute the poster that is in circulation.
