The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called on Kenyans who are eligible to vote to turn out in large numbers and register to enable them to vote in the forthcoming general elections.
Wafula Chebukati who is the chairman of the commission said the turnout of the national enhancement voter registration exercise has been low, in an exercise that has taken three weeks.
The initial target for IEBC was to register at 4.5 million new voters but so far the commission has only registered a total of 800,462 voters.
“Our staff is in every ward in the country ready to enroll you so that you may exercise your democratic rights,” Chebukati said.
Chebukati also said Kenyans looking for more information regarding the voter registration performance on counties, constituencies, and county assembly wards can get the information through the commissions portal.
