Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i has said that the government will not hesitate to shut down radios and TV stations propagating ethnicity and political violence in the country.

Addressing residents of Ol Kalou when presiding over the launch of Trinity Fm and Tv, Matiang'i said that several community stations had been used to propagate hatred.

“We will shut you down in the best interest of this country. we must uphold peace and we will safeguard the stability of this country jealously without taking sides,” said the CS.

His ICT counterpart CS, Joe Mucheru who graced the event at Trinity Methodist Church, outlined the achievement brought by the digital migration to allow broadcast even from the remote areas such as Ol Kalou.

“The church as the new entrant in broadcasting, should take the mantle, separate the truth from fake news while plugging into the technological advancements for economic growth,” Mucheru said.

Matiang'i also condemned the previous incident in which DP Ruto's motorcade was stormed in Busia, saying already five people had been arrested in connection with the chaos.

Those present at the event were Communication Authority of Kenya Director General, Ezra Chiloba, Water and Sanitation, CS Sicily Kariuki, and Sports CAS, Zach Kinuthia, among others.
