Drama ensued after Ruai based police officers engaged two couples in a spirited chase after someone reported a suspicious-looking vehicle in the neighbourhood.

The Friday night incident was triggered when a concerned member of the public reported a suspicious-looking vehicle parked in their neighbourhood.

The vehicle had four occupants whose intentions were unclear at the moment.

Police officers from the nearby AP driving school in Ruai responded to the tipoff and cautiously approached the vehicle.

Suddenly, the officers saw silhouettes of four individuals jumping into the vehicle before it sped off in the opposite direction.

Determined to establish the identity of the occupants of the vehicle, the three officers who responded to the tipoff went for the police vehicle and started the chase.

They rolled down Kangundo Road at around 3am, narrowing the distance between them and the vehicle the four occupants were fleeing in.

The blaring of the police siren did not deter the occupants of the truck, which was then identified as a Ford Ranger double cabin from flooring the accelerator.

Instead, it encouraged them to inch further.

After a five-kilometre spirited chase, the officers decided to close the curtains on the little show and with the precision of a marksman; the police disabled the Ford Ranger in two on-target shots to the tyres.

As soon as the Ford Ranger stopped, two male and two female naked occupants dashed out to the vehicle with their hands lifted in the air to signify surrender.

One lady let out a shout, trying to assure the fast approaching police officers they were not criminals.

“Sis sio wezi,” she shouted, which translates to “We are not criminals”

Upon realizing that they had just rained on the party of the foursome adults enjoying their informed decisions, the police officers offered to escort them to Ruai Police station where they were safely hosted for the rest of the night.

The police also assisted them with towing their vehicle to the police station.
