Police in Mbooni-Makueni County have launched a manhunt for a middle-aged man for raping his 90-year-old mother.

The 45-year-old suspect identified as Patrick Mumo committed the abominable crime when the country was celebrating Mashujaa Day.

The geriatric victim of the beastly act narrated the ordeal she went through in the hands of her eldest son after she was found in her bedroom writhing in unbearable pain.

According to her statement, Mumo forced his way into her bedroom at around 8 pm while she was asleep and engaged in his beastly act.

After committing the crime, Mumo went into hiding.

The old woman was rushed to Kisau Sub-County Hospital in a serious condition as she complained of pain around her waist. She is currently receiving treatment at the facility.

Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that indeed the old woman was raped, corroborating her story.

Police are appealing to Mumo to surrender before they catch up with him. They have also appealed to the members of the public to share any information that may lead to his arrest.
