Police in Mbeere South, Embu county have started investigating into the death of three children who lost their lives when their house caught fire in Rianguro village, Gachuriri location.
The deceased aged 13, 9 and 1 year were in the house alone when fire broke out at around 10 pm midnight.
The area assistant chief Collins Njeru has said by the time police officers and villagers responded, the whole house had been surrounded by fire and their efforts to extinguish the fire did not bear any fruits.
Njeru said it was after the fire had cooled down that the enforcement were able to dig through the debris where they found the remains of the children.
According to the chief, the children had been sent home by their mother who operates a business at Yonda market when the incident happened.

Njeru has added that the mother and the boda boda operator who took them home have since been interrogated.
He has therefore warned parents against leaving young children alone at home to prevent such damming incidences.
The bodies of the three children have been taken to Embu level five hospital mortuary.
