Attorney General Kihara Kariuki has filed a notice of appeal against the judgment that declared Huduma Namba rollout illegal.

Kariuki said he was not satisfied with the ruling.

The high court declared the rollout of the Huduma Namba illegal on Thursday, saying it contravened the data protection act.

The High Court also directed the government to conduct a data protection impact assessment before rolling out Huduma Namba cards.

The court also cited lack of data protection as it called the Huduma Namba process illegal.

Justice Jairus Ngaah said the Government failed to conduct data assessment before rolling out the cards in November 2020, colliding with the Constitution in the process.
