Tirop was found dead on Wednesday in her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County. The champion’s body was found with a stab wound in her abdomen.

President Uhuru Kenyatta personally called for a speedy probe into the murder of Tirop.

“I urge our law enforcement agencies led by the National Police Service to track down and apprehend the criminals responsible for the killing of Agnes so that they can face the full force of the law,” said Uhuru.

With Rotich’s arrest, police are hoping to find out exactly what happened that culminated in the murder of the Kenyan champion.
