Police have arrested a man in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga for brutally murdering his girlfriend on Tuesday evening.

Kirinyaga based detectives apprehended the suspect named Kennedy Nyamu on Tuesday night after viciously attacking his 27-year-old girlfriend named Edith Muthoni and inflicting a fatal wound on the back of her head.

A well-wisher rushed Muthoni to Kirinyaga referral hospital in critical condition where the medical staff tried to save her life but unfortunately their efforts went in vain.

Upon seeing and evaluating the seriousness of the situation, the hospital manager, Norman Gitari, informed the authorities.

The detectives swung into action and promptly arrested Nyamu and put him into custody, as he is considered a key suspect.

Nyamu led the detectives to the location where he committed the murder in Kianjege village where they scoured the area for the entire night in search of any crucial evidence that could shed some light on the murder.

Police are holding Nyamu in custody as he is assisting the detectives with the investigations before being arraigned in court for his crimes.
