Mohammed Samatar a KANU board member has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure that all people living with disabilities and are eligible to vote are registered during the ongoing mass registration exercise.

Speaking when he joined the deaf fraternity for a luncheon to celebrate the victory of Teddy Kefa Wasonga as Mister Africa Deaf 2021 winner at the family home Tudor, Mombasa county, Samatar said the constitution allows every Kenyan to vote.

He added by saying the Commission need to set up a center for people living with disabilities in all parts of the country.

He has also expressed his concerns on the pace in which Identification Cards are issued saying it might lock out eligible voter from registering as voters to take part in the coming elections.

He has called on the government to take actions on those parents who hides their children with special interest from the public domain.

“The government must come up with laws to ensure people living with disabilities have access to education and must be seen in public,” he said.
