A Nairobi court has sentenced Tom Mboya, the man who was found guilty of the attempted murder of Ranalo Food restaurant owner.

The Milimani Court has sentenced Mboya to twenty-three years in prison for the attempted murder of William Osewe.

His sentencing came after Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku found him guilty of the crime committed on December 1, 2016.

While delivering her sentence, Mutuku said based on the probation report, the accused showed no remorse for the offence.

“I have considered the probation report tabled before me and noted that the accused Tom Mboya never showed any remorse for his offence,” Mutuku said.

Mutuku sentenced Mboya to twenty years in jail for the attempted murder of Osewe and three years for wounding him.

However, Mutuku ruled that the two sentences will run concurrently, which comes as a slight relief to Mboya as he will only serve twenty years in prison.

“I sentence the accused to 20 years in jail for the attempted murder charge and three years for wounding him," ruled Mutuku.

On the material day of the incident, Mboya shot Osewe following a scuffle over a woman, who was said to be the latter's wife

This followed an accusation by Osewe that Mboya was having an intimate relationship with his wife.

According to the evidence that was presented before the court, Mboya shot Osewe not once but four times, and that proved he was intent on killing him.
