The Planning Pensions Department has issued a notice to all public service pensioners, dependents and the general public over a false message in circulation.
The notice has termed false information circulating on social media purpotedly addressed to pensioners who retired from the Ministry of Education between 1997 and 2007.
The said message alleges that some additional retirement benefits were being availed to the former employees in that education ministry.
In the same message, pensioners or their next of kin are advised to visit the Pensions Department Desks at Huduma Centers for processing of the alleged benefits.
The state department has warned all pensioners and the general public to ignore the message as and its contents stamping them false.

“Pensioners and members of the public are hereby informed that the message and its content is false and should be ignored,” the notice read in part.
The Pensions Department reminded pensioners that the only revision on pension awards that is ongoing only affects Teachers Service Commission employees who retired between July 1, 1998, and June 30, 2003.
“The Department takes this opportunity to remind our esteemed pensioners and the general public that the only revision of pension awards that has been ongoing affects former Teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), who retired within the period of 1st July, 1998 to 30th June, 2003 (both dates inclusive),” the notice continued.
The source or the motive of the false circulating message is yet to be established and the Pensions Department has undertaken to get to the bottom of the matter.
