President Uhuru Kenyatta has condoled with the family of freedom hero Dedan Kimathi for the loss of their daughter Peris Muthoni Kimathi.

Peris passed away last weekend after an illness bravely borne.

In his condolence message, Uhuru described the late Peris as a cheerful person and a strong pillar of Kimathi’s family who cared for her family especially the Kimathi matriarch Mama Mukami Kimathi.

"It is unfortunate that we've lost Muthoni Kimathi to the cruel hand of death at a time when her family, especially Mama Mukami Kimathi, needed her the most as a close caregiver," Uhuru said.

The president remembered Peris as a cheerful person who spared nothing when it came to caring for her mother.

He prayed that God gives Kimathi’s family comfort during their time of bereavement.

"Muthoni was always besides Mama Mukami Kimathi, taking care of her and ensuring she is well attended to. Her death is a big blow to Dedan Kimathi's family, especially to Mama Mukami, and I pray that God gives them comfort during this difficult period," he added.
