Self-proclaimed chairman of Kenyan Gospel musicians Alex Apoko popularly known as Ringtone now wants blogger Robert Alai to be put behind bars.

Ringtone on Monday asked a Kibera Law Court to cancel the bond terms given to Alai in the assault case he filed against him a month ago.

Through his lawyer Evans Ondieki, Ringtone claimed the Kahawa Tungu owner had been threatening him and his witnesses ahead of the hearing of their case, which is slated for September 24, 2021.

He also told the court that Alai’s threats were undermining the court process and asked that he shows cause why he should not be held in contempt of court.

Ringtone alleged that Alai used agents and proxies to publish malicious information about him and that the blogger also published a story that berated the court.

According to the application, Alai insulted Ringtone claiming he was involved in a car theft syndicate and uses his music as a front.

“The blogger also abused and insulted the complainant, alleging that he is involved in an international car theft syndicate and uses music as a cover-up. The respondent’s conduct is an affront on the rule of the law and due process,” read the application.

The application by Ringtone also intimated that Alai’s conduct posed a threat to democracy, as it disregarded the law and institutions.

He further claimed the blogger’s lawyer, Abraham Mutai, was his surrogate saying he made some Twitter posts at Alai’s behest.

Alai was charged in a Kibera court with causing grievous bodily harm to Ringtone following a road rage a month ago.
