Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives arrested three individuals found in possession of illegal firearms on Tuesday.

Two of the individuals who respond to the names Lilian Wanjiku and Chris Mwangangi were intercepted at the Argwings Kodhek and Ring Road Junction in the Kilimani area by officers based in Kilimani.

Upon a thorough inspection of the vehicle, the detectives recovered a Ceska pistol whose serial number was erased, a revolver pistol and an unidentified front number plate.

Initial investigations discovered the vehicle belonged to another individual; Jeff Maina, a close friend of the Mwangangi’s

Mwangangi called his friend and informed him about his encounter with the detectives and that he was at Kilimani Police Station.

Maina responded to his friend’s distress call promptly as he arrived at Kilimani Police Station shortly afterwards.

No sooner had he arrived at the station than the police arrested him and conducted a quick search on the Mercedes Benz S-Class Sedan he arrived in.

As expected, their search was not done in vain as the keen detectives recovered two pairs of police handcuffs, a loaded Ceska magazine with 7 rounds of ammunition, a police pocket phone and several identity cards.

The three suspects were immediately put in custody pending investigations, and the firearms that were recovered from them were handed over to ballistics experts for further examination.

A Mombasa based police officer believed to have given the handcuffs to the suspects has also been arrested.
