The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi was on Tuesday evening released from police custody on a Sh10,000 cash bail.

After his release, Havi alleged that his arrest was made just to intimidate him.

He was arrested on Tuesday morning at his office and taken to the DCI headquarters for questioning following an assault case filed against him by LSK CEO Mercy Wambua.

Wambua, through her lawyer Stephen Ogolla, recorded a statement at the Muthangari Police station over the alleged assault by Havi.

In the statement, Wambua alleged that Havi accosted her and shoved her out of a council meeting at the LSK boardroom, causing injuries on her right arm and finger.

Havi, however, rubbished her claims accusing her of interrupting an ongoing meeting in the boardroom with the intent to gather information on the meeting via recording devices.

He added that Wambua was not welcome at the LSK offices as she had been sent on compulsory leave.

The LSK president is scheduled to appear in court in Nairobi on Thursday to take plea in the assault case.
