Kenya confirmed 836 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, increasing the caseload to 50,833 since the first case of the virus was reported back in March.

According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, the country also lost 14 more Coronavirus patients raising the total fatalities to 934.

Nairobi County accounted for the highest new cases on Tuesday with 556, followed by Uasin Gishu with 68, Mombasa 62, Kiambu 32, Nakuru 24, Laikipia 22 and Kajiado 12.

MoH said a total of 1,150 patients are admitted to various hospitals across Kenya, including 38 in intensive care unit (ICU), while another 3,961 are on home-based care and isolation.

822 of the new Covid-19 patients are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners, 618 of them being male while 218 are female.

Concerns are rising over the fast surging numbers pointing at a more lethal second wave in the wake of relaxed containment measures by President Uhuru Kenyatta and resumption of learning in schools as well as resumed drinking in pubs and revised curfew hours.
