The government of Kenya has disbursed Sh8.7 billiuoin for the Inua Jamii and NICHE programs.

The Inua Jamii programme is under the Ministry of Labour and usually aims to help vulnerable Kenyans; orphans and vulnerable children, older persons and persons with severe disabilities from hunger and poverty.

Principle Secretary in the State Department for Social Protection Nelson Marwa announced that the accounts of the beneficiaries will be credited starting July 12. 

Each beneficiary is expected to receive Sh8000 as payment for the months on Marc, April, May and June 2021.

As additional Sh26.3 Million has also been released by the government to Nutrition Improvement Through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) Complementary Programme to benefit some 12,054 individuals.

Beneficiaries registered under the NICHE program will have an additional Sh4000 per household.

The NICHE Complementary programme targets households with children under two years, pregnant and lactating mothers who are already enrolled in the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme.

Most beneficiaries targeted are from Marsabit, Turkana, Kitui, Kwale and West Pokot Counties.
