Eye witness account said that the accident was caused by the reckless actions of a boda boda rider who failed to yield way for the vehicles on the highway but instead chose to get onto the road.

It is not yet clear how it exactly happened, but his actions could have forced one of the vehicles to manoeuvre trying to avoid knocking him but unfortunately rammed head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Judging from the images Swala Nyeti has seen, the track had a head-on collision with the Nissan Serena while the Toyota Harrier seems to have rear-ended the Nissan Serena.

The accident has left the three vehicles totalled and fatalities have also been reported.

Motorists have raised concern over the riding habits of the boda boda riders in the country and their lack of courtesy to other road users.

A section of the public has also called for the withdrawal of boda bodas on Kenyan roads citing their lack of experience, disregard to traffic rules and regulations in addition to the fact that they are being used by thugs to perpetrate crimes.
