Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo’s requiem was held at CITAM Church, Valley Road, Nairobi on June 24, 20211.

The ceremony was graced by several leaders from across the many political divides.

The message that seems to have been the backdrop of the ceremony was that of unity.

Most leaders called out for the unity of National Super Alliance (NASA) luminaries ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Amani National Congress’ Musalia Mudavadi were all in attendance.

Among the leaders who called for NASA unity include Gatanga MP Joseph Nduati who said that the luminaries should sit together and provide the next leader of this country.

“Raila, Kalonzo and Mudavadi, sit together and give us one person to lead this country,” said Nduati.

Minority leader John Mbadi insinuated that it is upon Kalonzo and Mudavadi to help Raila’s bid to occupy State House.

“You know we are in your hands. Do something,” challenged Mbadi, referring to Kalonzo and Mudavadi.

Current Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo also implored the other NASA leaders to support Raila’s bid for the presidency in a metaphor.

“I implore Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi… if you take your brother to marry a girl and you realise the girl has gone to school abroad when you hear the girl has come back you go back and take your brother so that he marries the girl,” said Odhiambo.

Makadara MP George Aladwa also added his weight to the unity calls.

“Together with your fellow leaders, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi this is your time to focus on what will happen in 2022,” Aladwa said.

The ODM leader, Raila Odinga, called for the country’s unity ahead of the 2022 general elections.

“I think what is important is for us to come together as the people of Kenya and we put away our ethnic origins to bring Kenya first. This is what is most important,” said Raila.

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi emphasised the need for trust, which he blamed for the collapse of NASA in a speech he gave while he was in Mombasa last week.

Jakoyo Midiwo passed away on June 14, 2021, following a heart attack.

He will be flown to Gem on June 25, 2021, where his burial will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
