The newly appointed Chief Justice Martha Koome yesterday issued a statement on the appointment of the 34 judges and the rejection of the 6 nominees.
The CJ went on to explain the mandate of the Judicial Service Commission and the extent of its involvement in the process of judges' appointments.
Koome also distanced herself from the process and reminded the people who have been questioning her role in the process that the process was undertaken more than 2 years ago; before she was appointed CJ.
The CJ called upon president Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint the remaining 6 nominees as judges, drawing his attention to the backlog of cases and the increase of the same.
In her statement, Koome said that no authority or person is allowed to interfere with the Judiciary or JSC in executing their mandate.
