“Reggae is back!” This is the declaration made by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga on Monday.

Raila was addressing his supporters at Kondele in Kisumu as he announced that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum process will be back on course after the courts halted it.

The ex-PM expressed optimism that the BBI process will overcome the constitutional hurdle posed by the High Court decision to nullify the process as unconstitutional a fortnight ago.

Raila took the chance to appeal to Kisumu County residents to welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta and other top dignitaries next week for the Madaraka Day celebrations.

During his visit to the lakeside county, Raila’s political base, Uhuru will inspect the progress in the construction of the Kisumu Port, Moi Stadium and the revamped Nakuru-Kisumu railways.

The trip is also set to quell the political turmoil that has rocked the Uhuru-Raila handshake in the recent weeks, especially during the passage of the BBI Bill in the National Assembly.
