Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is in hot pursuit of armed attackers who ambushed Kenyan soldiers who were on a routine patrol at Baure area of Lamu county on Tuesday morning.
KDF Spokesperson Zipporah Kioko, in a statement released on Tuesday, said soldiers came across an IED that was followed by an ambuscade by suspected Somali militants along the Bodhei-Kiunga Road.
KDF did not, however, divulge the number of Kenyan soldiers who were injured in the attack, only saying: “the casualties were airlifted to the Defence Memorial Hospital- Nairobi for medical care.”
