The judicial commission is also barred from interviewing candidates for the single position of judge of the Supreme Court until the petition is heard and determined.
JSC has vowed to move to court to reverse the order issued after Tolphin Nafula filed a petition challenging Prof Olive Mugenda's post as the chairperson of the interviewing panel.
The order came after the JSC panel had interviewed 8 of the 10 candidates interested in the CJ position, with Court of Appeal President, Justice William Ouko, appearing on Wednesday in the interviews that started last week.
Next week, JSC was expected to start the process of recruiting a candidate for the post of judge of the Supreme Court, with 9 candidates shortlisted for the position.
