President William Ruto has appealed to Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga to call off the planned nationwide mass action protests and support his administration.

Ruto was addressing members of the public in Uriri Constituency, Migori County, where he ended his three-day tour of the South Nyanza region.

The president asked his former ally to return the favour and support him in his bid for re-election in 2027.

"Mr Agwambo I helped you when we were in ODM; I voted for you, and now that time has gone by, why don't you stop organising demonstrations against me and vote for me just once in 2027?" Ruto said amid cheers.

The president relived memories from the time when they were a team under the Pentagon, the political bus they boarded to the 2007 elections.

Ruto reminded Raila that he sacrificed for Raila and was even taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague following the bungled elections.

"I fought for Raila until he became a prime minister. I was taken to The Hague because I defended him now all he is giving back to me is demonstrations yet all I have tried and God helped me now I am the president," Ruto lamented.

While disclosing his plan to develop every part of Kenya, Ruto encouraged leaders from the region to work with his administration.

Ruto's visit to the region comes when Raila's demonstrations against his government have been intensified.
