President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared that Friday, Saturday and Sunday be set aside as a national weekend of prayer on returning from an official trip to France.

According to President Kenyatta, during the prayer weekend, Kenyans are encouraged to pray for the country in their usual places of worship while observing set Covid-19 protocols.

According to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, on Saturday the Head of State will convene an inter-faith national prayer service at State House, Nairobi starting at 10am.

The inter-faith prayer service is expected to be broadcast live on all leading television, radio and digital media platforms.

This comes as Kenyatta last week ordered a phased re-opening of the country after months of Coronavirus containment measures that have seen millions lose their sources of income.

This also comes as Kenyans have been demanding he re-opens the economy and as Education CS George Magoha ordered a phased reopening of schools across the country starting Monday.
