Kiraitu Murungi, the Meru County Governor, has tested positive for Covid-19.

Meru County Health CEC Misheck Mutuma confirmed on Friday afternoon that Governor Murungi had proceeded into self-isolation after the confirmation which came more than a week after he received the Covid-19 vaccine through the government programme.

He said the county boss went into self-isolation following the advice of the doctor and was doing “very well” and he further warned Meru residents of the more lethal third wave.

However, he has appealed to Meru residents to continue observing Coronavirus protocols to help contain the fast spread of the virus amid a third phase ravaging the country.
