A five-year old boy was on Monday abducted by a mad man while on his way to school and beheaded before the man roasted and ate the body part in in Kitui East, Kitui County.
Five-year-old Ian Kitheka was on his way to Katumbu Pre-school with fellow pupils when they were waylaid by the man, who chased, overpowered then strangled him to death.
Mary Muvengei, the Kanduti Location Chief, said the mentally ill man slit Kitheka’s throat with a knife, beheaded him before fleeing the scene with the severed head.
The boy’s head teacher notified the police of his absence from school and a search in the bushes yielded Kitheka’s body leaving area residents in shock over his bizarre death.
The irate villagers were shocked further to establish that the mad man had roasted and eaten the boy’s head and in retaliation they stoned him to death before lynching him.
