The body of a Kenyan woman who was buried by her partner in Dallas, Texas in the US has been exhumed as ordered by an American court.

The body of Dorothy Bosibori Ongera was exhumed after her family members challenged the decision by her partner to bury her “secretly” without involving them on December 28.

Bosibori was laid to rest in a Texas cemetery by Obadiah Kinara after she accidentally drowned at home but her suspicious family discounts this and have denounced him.

A US court in Tarrant County, Texas on Friday issued the exhumation order after her father David Ongera filed a petition.

Bosibori had six children, three with Kinara, whom lived with, but Ongera claims her body was sneaked from a morgue and buried at Emerald Hills Memorial Park minus their consent.

Bosibori’s father is demanding an independent autopsy to establish the exact cause of her death and the judge has blocked any interference with the body until the case terminates.

A hearing to decide who will bury her remains starts on March 23, but her family claims she was not legally married to Kinara and he was not her next of kin hence lacked burial rights.

Kinara has denied all the allegations and accused her family of besmirching his reputation and alluded at a plot by her family to target their children and insurance payout.
