An inquest into the death of Patricia Tecra Muigai, the daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja, has learnt that she moved a lot of cash from her account to her 52-year-old boyfriend Omar Lali.
Tabitha Karanja described the transfer of the cash by her late daughter to Lali, who had been linked to her death, as strange.
She was testifying during an inquest into Tecra’s death as the first witness and demanded justice for her daughter, saying her death robbed their family of a bright daughter.
Also present during the inquest held at Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday, was Joseph Muigai, Tabitha’s husband and Tecra’s father, alongside their other daughter Anerlisa Muigai.
Tecra died after she allegedly fell over a flight of stairs in a house in Lamu while with her then lover Lali, who was initially held over the death but later ordered released by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
