Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto was arraigned in Kitale after being arrested Sunday while visiting families evicted from a settlement scheme on the border of West Pokot and Trans-Nzoia Counties.

Moroto is accused of destroying property belonging to the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) at Suam Orchards worth Sh7 million between April and June 2017.

The Kapenguria lawmaker has been accused together with others not before court.

Moroto was visiting evicted families camping at Katikomor market and Katikomor Primary School when DCI officers from Endebess pounced on him.

The MP was freed on a Sh1 million bond and a cash bail of Sh500, 000, with the case set for mention on March 15 for further direction.
