Police in Nairobi have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman, her son and a man said to be his boyfriend at Government Quarters along Jogoo Road.

Police on Tuesday discovered the decomposing bodies of Charity Cherop Cheboi, her eight-year-old son and the yet-to-be-identified man inside her house on third floor.

The 34-year-old deceased woman is said to be a Registrar of Persons employee who was based at Huduma Centre in Mathare.

The woman and her son were found lying close to each other in a gory scene in her bedroom with blood oozing from their mouths and both holding rosaries in their hands.

The man said to be Cherop’s boyfriend was found with his hands and legs tied together in the toilet.

A report recorded at Buruburu police station said the bodies were discovered after the boy’s school called his father to establish why he failed to report to school on Monday.

The father, who does not live with the woman and their son, told police that he went to the house to establish what was wrong after failing to reach the mother of his son on her mobile phone.

According to police, when his knocks on the door went unanswered, he decided to peep through the window and raised alarm when he saw that the sitting room appeared to have been ransacked.

Neighbours said stench emanating from the house forced them to break in only to be met by the decomposing bodies of the trio and the bloody and gruesome scene in which they lay.

Police suspect the woman, her son and perceived boyfriend were murdered two days ago as the woman and her son were last seen on Sunday buying groceries on returning from church.
