The Trans Nzoia County Assembly on Tuesday passed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional Amendment Bill making it the sixth assembly to do so.

The BBI Bill was tabled by Cherangany/Suwerwa MCA Mathew Orang’o and received the backing of 35 out of the 39 MCAs present.

Only Kipsiro/Kiptoror MCA Kipchumba Birir opposed the Bill seeking to amend the constitution during the Tuesday Assembly session which was chaired by Speaker Joshua Werunga.

The other county assemblies that have passed the BBI Bill are Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, West Pokot and Busia, with the Bill needing at least 24 counties to sail through to the referendum after drafting of the final bill by the National Assembly.
