The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal on Tuesday suspended Jubilee Party’s decision on Monday to expel six nominated senators, including Isaac Mwaura and Millicent Omanga.

Tribunal chairperson Desma Nungo announced the move to suspend Jubilee Party’s punitive action against the nominated senators to permit them to seek legal redress in the courts.

This comes after Mwaura, Omanga and two other expelled senators rushed to court on Tuesday in a bid to overturn the decision taken against them by the ruling party headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jubilee Party on Monday expelled Mwaura, Omanga, Mary Seneta, Waqo Naomi Jilo, Prengei Victor and Iman Dekow over indiscipline following a resolution of the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

“The expulsions are with immediate effect and have been communicated to the Senate and the Registrar of Political Parties,” party Secretary General Raphael Tuju announced on Monday.

Tuju made the announcement to eject the six nominated senators who are allied to Deputy President William Ruto after a meeting of the Jubilee National Management Committee.
