President William Ruto has angrily responded to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga’s claim that he stole his victory in the August 9, 2022 General Election.

Ruto, who spoke at the burial of Trade CS Moses Kuria’s elder sister Pauline Nyokabi in Gatundu South, instead accused Raila of attempting to force him into a political handshake.

He told off the ODM Party Leader and ruled out striking any political deal with him even as he defended IEBC for holding a transparent poll and publishing results on an online portal.

“I want to tell you all early in the day, my friends, forget about a handshake. And don’t tell us that you don’t want issues to do with a handshake, we can see you, we know you and we know your everyday crookedness,” Ruto stated.

The Head of State and Kenya Kwanza boss stated that he enjoys the full mandate of the Kenyan people and defended his win against Raila in the results declared on September 15.

He trashed demands by Raila, during his “Clarion Call” rally at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Monday, that IEBC servers be opened and subjected to an independent forensic audit.

“Chebukati and IEBC opened the server a long time ago. Form 34A from all polling stations are available in the portal, as well as forms 34B and 34C. Which is this server they want to be opened? he posed.

His sentiments were echoed by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was also present at the burial ceremony in Gatundu South.

“He (Raila) is reintroducing chaos, that’s what they discussing there (at Kamukunji). He now wants to join our president’s government. Our president is here. You know, you can fool some people sometimes, but you cannot fool all the people all the time,” stated the DP.

He accused the Azimio brigade of attempting to undermine his government.


“The government of Kenya is not going to be blackmailed to serve the interests of few people, their families and their businesses - that will not happen,” intimated Ruto.

The president added, “We cannot allow you few people to organize demonstrations, then demand half the government, some money – you can totally forget that, it’s not possible. And please look for someone else to intimidate, not me!” President Ruto warned.

Earlier at his Kamukunji rally, Raila rejected the August 2022 presidential poll results accusing former IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati of altering the results to favour Ruto.
