The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) officials and police officers from the Energy Police Unit raided and shut down an illegal LPG refilling plant in Nairobi.


This happened when the multi-agency team conducted a joint compliance operation on Salama Gas Limited in Embakasi East Sub County on Monday.

The multi-agency team established that the licensed LPG facility has been refilling and trading in LPG cylinders without authorization from the respective brand owners.

That followed a comprehensive probe that discovered about 176 assorted LPG cylinders.

Upon discovery, the multi-agency team ensured the facility ceased its illegal operations.

Four suspects were arrested during the operation and will be arraigned to be charged under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Regulations 2019.


This comes as EPRA has intensified its campaigns to ensure Kenyans only access safe petroleum products.

EPRA appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and report cases of malpractice.
