President William Ruto has announced an expanded communication team at State House that has incorporated his men who were dismissed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime.

The changes announced on Monday will see Eric Ngeno, Munyori Buku, David Nzioka and James Kinyua return to the Presidential Communication Service (PCS), which replaced the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU).

Buku, who was PSCU public communications director, returns as Public Communications Secretary under PCS, while lawyer Eric Ngeno who headed messaging at PSCU returns as Secretary for Messaging and speechwriter.

Nzioka, who was Director for Events and Branding under PSCU, has been appointed the Secretary for Digital and Innovations in the expanded PCS announced by the president.

Kinyua, who also handled events and branding in the PSCU, makes a comeback as Secretary Branding and Events in Ruto’s expanded State House communication team.

The PSCU directors were sacked by former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government in 2020 but were later absorbed by the then DP Ruto to assist with his 2022 presidential campaigns.

Kenyans are speculating on the fate of former PSCU Digital and Diaspora Director Dennis Itumbi owing to the changes after he recently revealed his role was “come here, go there.”

However, sources within the ruling party and around Itumbi have disclosed to Swala Nyeti that Itumbi is awaiting a plum appointment he had been promised by the Head of State.
