There was drama after a man suspected to have killed his former girlfriend and torched her body in Kasarani was confronted by police officers at a house in Kayole, Nairobi County.

The suspect, Charles Oluenyi, 37, stabbed himself on the neck a number of times and even hang precariously from outside his balcony as he threatened to take his life to escape facing justice.

It took the intervention of a team of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to calm Oluenyi down for him to finally open the door for the police to execute an arrest.

The officers had a difficult time leaving the building named Kayole Turkey Resort as hundreds of irate residents who had milled at the scene did no relent in baying for the suspect’s blood.

Oluenyi is the only suspect who was being sought by police since Friday in relation to the murder of 34-year-old Margaret Muchemi, whose body was tied to a bed in her bedroom and set on fire at Njiru, in Kasarani sub-county last Friday.
