ODM leader Raila Odinga insists he won in the August 9 presidential election and vowed to challenge President William Ruto and his administration head-on on its recent actions.

Raila says he will convene a rally at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi county on December 7 to engage with the Kenyan public on the direction Kenya is taking under President Ruto.

Here is his full statement as shared on his official Twitter handle on Friday:

“Fellow Kenyans;

I have been around with you for long. Millions of you voted for me in the last election. We won that election. Millions of you call me Baba.

However, events lately show that the Judiciary has been captured. The criminal justice system is collapsing. That is why cases are rapidly being dropped, criminals are being celebrated and turned into prosecution witnesses.

On December 7th, at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi, we'll launch public consultations with the people of Kenya to brainstorm on the direction the country is taking.

We will return to the same venue on December 12th, to continue with these consultations on the state of our Nation.

We wish to remind Mr. Ruto that this country had a system like the one he is trying to reinvent. We fought that system. We brought down that system.

We will do so to the one he is inventing now. We will bring it down. Let us all stand up for our country before it is too late.”
