Steve Chege, who was a Senate Senatorial aspirant in Laikipia County in the August election was laid to rest on Saturday.


Family, friends and relatives gathered for Chege’s burial at Kasuku, Nyandarua County as they paid glowing tributes to the fallen budding politician.


Politicians, friends and colleagues mourned Steve as a friendly, ambitious, hardworking and loving man, leader and father.

Chege was also remembered as a role model among his peers and to those he went before.


Among key leaders who attended the burial are nominated MP Sabina Chege, former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, area senator John Methu and former Nominated Senator IG Ngugi.


Chege passed away on Monday morning while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta University Teaching Research and Referral Hospital where he was recuperating in the ICU.


He was rushed to the institution after being involved in an accident while driving along the Northern Bypass in Nairobi.

He is reported to have tried to avoid a head-on collision with a boda boda rider who was on the wrong side of the road.


Chege tried to avoid knocking the boda boda rider when he swerved and hit the road barriers before his car went spinning and landed in a ditch.
