Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced his decision to establish a Judicial Commission to conduct an inquiry into the murder of investigative journalist Arshad Sharif.

Sharif announced the decision on Tuesday, barely 24 hours after holding a telephone conversation with Kenya president William Ruto on the gruesome murder on Sunday.

“I have decided to form a Judicial Commission to hold an inquiry into the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif in order to determine the facts of the tragic incident in a transparent & conclusive manner,” said Shehbaz on his official Twitter handle.

PM Shehbaz called President Ruto on Monday to discuss the shooting dead of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif by police officers under questionable circumstances on Sunday.

Shehbaz later revealed that, in the phone call, he had asked President Ruto to ensure there was a fair and open investigation into the murder that has left the whole world in shock.

“Just had a telephonic call with Kenyan President William Ruto about the tragic death of Arshad Sharif in Kenya. I requested him to ensure fair & transparent investigation into shocking incident. He promised all-out help including fast-tracking the process of return of the body to Pakistan,” tweeted Shebaz on Monday.
