A middle-aged woman was arrested in Migori County for allegedly burning her co-wife’s face with hot water in the Dede area in Awendo Sub-county.

The Awendo sub-county Police Commander Mathias Pombo confirmed the incident that occurred on Wednesday evening.

According to Pombo, the victim who had been away, went back to the village to attend the funeral of a neighbour and condole with the family when her co-wife launched the unprovoked attack.

Sources said the suspect seized an opportunity and poured hot water on the victim's face, causing her serious injuries.

The victim was immediately rushed to Ranen Mission Hospital where h she received treatment.

Pombo said the attack could have stemmed from jealousy, as the suspect grew jittery from seeing how her husband cordially related with her co-wife who is said to have left their home years ago over marital wrangles.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Awendo Police Station before being arraigned in court on Thursday.
