The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has announced the appointment of Massa Hamisi Salim as the interim director of Criminal Investigations.

NPSC announced Salim’s appointment on Thursday evening via a statement shared on their social media.

“NPSC appoints Mr. Massa Hamisi Salim, MBS, ndc (K), SAIG as the Director Criminal Investigation in an acting capacity, until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days,” NPSC said.

Salim will replace the former director George Kinoti who recently resigned from the position.

He will act in that capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days when the new boss is appointed.

His appointment follows President William Ruto’s directive to appoint someone to act in Kinoti’s place and advertise the position which it had already done.

"I have also received the resignation of the Director General of CID Mr. Kinoti and I have transmitted the same to the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position and meanwhile they should get somebody to act in the place of Mr. Kinoti," Ruto said.
