A Nairobi man, keen on being present in the lives of his unborn children has sued his ex-lover for denying him the chance to be present during her pregnancy.

The man went to plead with the court to be allowed to help the pregnant woman who is expecting twins.

Presiding over the case, High Court Judge Mugure Thande acknowledged the eccentric nature of the case, noting it is usually the other way around, as men are known for abandoning their love interests whenever a pregnancy.

"The petitioner/applicant is aware that life begins at conception as per provisions of Article 26 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and that he is keen to be present in the lives of his unborn children," Thande said.

According to the court documents, the man laments that the woman has consistently rejected his efforts to be part of the pregnancy journey, although she knows his desire to be a present father through all the stages.

The situation arose after the estranged couple parted ways in February 2022, marking the end of their steamy relationship that started in 2020.

"The respondent has consistently rejected to associate me or let me in with the pregnancy journey despite having full knowledge that I have been desirous of having children and becoming a father and a present one at that," the court papers read.

The man noted he has responsibilities over the unborn children, which the respondent is hampering him from performing and would like to court to compel the woman to allow him to be present during the pregnancy journey and after the twins are born.

"I have responsibilities over the unborn children, which responsibilities the respondent is blocking me from doing. I therefore pray that this court compels the respondent to allow me to be present during the pregnancy journey and be present after the expected twin babies have been born," the man said.

The man further revealed they had tried having babies before but unfortunately, they lost two pregnancies and said he was both stressed and worried over the safety and future of his unborn twins.

"I am constantly stressed and worried about the safety and future of my babies as I have been left in the dark on the pregnancy journey, despite the full knowledge that I have been desirous of having children," the man said.
